Gringo football

After a busy day in clinic yesterday, Jeff, Noah, and I joined the Morris family for a walk into Santa Lucia. It was a perfect evening - fairly cool with the sun setting behind us. Luke Morris is 19 months old, so the two little gringos made quite the spectacle in town. The Hondurans are especially amused when the gringo babies are carried around by their fathers! No rest for the weary Honduran women.

When we got to the top of a hill overlooking Santa Lucia, a soccer ball magically appeared before us... followed by the giggles of four little Honduran boys. I kicked the ball back down the hill and was soon engaged in a football match with four very young, barefoot boys. Needless to say, their soccer skills were far superior to mine. And I was kicking downhill only! As I've apparently failed to learn on past trips, never challenge a Honduran to football!

We are so amazed how small the world has become since you guys took your first trips to Honduras. We are so proud of you and LOVE the blogs. Keep it up and see you soon.

Sweet story. I love that the little honduran boys were "challenging" your soccer skills. Sweet Noah, he's a celebrity and doesn't even know it!

I love how children all over the world are obsessed with soccer and want to play with us. Paul played soccer for the first time in his life in Mamelodi and scored a goal. It was classic.
