A day in the life of Noé

We have settled into a nice routine here in Santa Lucia. I'm going to miss it when we return to Cincinnati in a week! Noah wakes up around 5:30 and assumes his position in the Baby Bjorn with Jeff. They sometimes take walks or hang out together in the hammock. I start out on my four mile run to nearby Magdalena.

Upon return, we eat breakfast (my favorite today: eggs, black beans, plantains, avocados, and tortillas). Noah enjoys bananas and avocados, plus some baby food and cereal. Field clinic participants leave around 7:30; clinic here starts at 8. Noah and I play with Luke for an hour or so, and then Noah takes a two hour nap. I usually go down to clinic to precept patients with the medical students and residents.

We follow the same routine after lunch, and then we pack up again for a walk around 5. We stop and talk to the local people, buy a Fanta, and introduce Noah ("Noé" in Spanish) to the Honduran children. He has now added a wave to his excited point, so I'm expecting an "Hola!" to come out at any time.

As the sun descends behind the mountains, a cooler evening breeze settles around Santa Lucia. The moon waxes daily and soon will be full. We watch the chickens roost in the trees, and Noah settles in for bed. Another day closes in Santa Lucia.
