Sweet dreams

I am happy to report that Noah was not awake from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock in the morning last night! We're all feeling much more awake today. I think it may have had something to do with the raucous hour of trampoline-ing yesterday afternoon, or he may have been experiencing his own Super Bowl moment (we watched the first half via satellite).

I taught a class on neonatal resuscitation this morning, followed by rounds on the pediatric wards with the Cameroonian residents. At 10:30, Jeff met me at the hospital with Noah in tow. We made a Mayan wrap exchange so Jeff could round on the men's ward. We all ate lunch together, and then I returned to the hospital for a pediatric infectious disease consultation and another lecture for the residents. We rounded out the day with our usual walk around Mbingo, spotting "bee-byes" (or "butterflies") and roosters (they say "coo-noo-doo" per Noah). We watched an impressive game of REAL football before heading back for dinner.

Jeff made an amazing frittata for dinner tonight with eggs from the chickens that we spot around Mbingo. At less than 20 cents an egg, they are the cheapest organic, cage-free eggs that we have ever purchased. We spent the rest of the evening reading and coloring, and I am excited to be heading off to bed before 10 o'clock.

The adventures may be a bit less glamorous when you spend your day with an 18-month-old, but I love every minute with Noah. I hope to never take for granted the delight that he is experiencing each moment.

YAY! I am so proud of Jeff and his cooking skillz. I have never successfully made a fritata in the US, much less in Africa! I love you guys, and are so happy you get to experience this amazing adventure with Noah. Looks like the weather is gorgeous. JEALOUS!
